POST 5: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME
I'm aware of, and I have to support some of them, though from my perspective, the programme should be almost entirely different, and I will explain you why that is.
First of all, I studied a 4 year-long BA on English Language and Literature, with a fixed curriculum focused almost entirely on the English language (the English language course was annual and it took almost 4 classes each week). It also had some Linguistics courses (which I personally enjoyed most of them), and one Literature course each term. From I know, things have changed, now students have more Linguistics courses, the English language course is now term based, and they have more Literature, which I believe is good. The faculty was relatively poor, as the Humanities and Social Sciences are not really respected in Chile, classrooms were not the best, but not the worst either. We had an extremely old and outdated Language laboratory with very old equipments -though now I know it has been refurbished-. The teachers were heterogenous, I got some very good and some very lousy teachers. And all of them had quite diverse teaching methods and systems. In general terms, it was not the worst of programmes, and I learned a lot, but...
What would I do different? Well, a lot.
I would not have and English Language and Literature programme, but a Linguistics programme and a Literature programme as two different entities, with different majors on English, Spanish, Anthropological, Applied, Classical, etc. Both programmes should have highly flexible curricula with only some core mandatory courses, but a wide range of optional courses to choose from, general and specific. This would allow students to really study what they want and enjoy instead of feeling forced to undergo courses that they see no point to (as I did with many Literature courses..., and others). That would be a programme I would enjoy someday to see and even to be part of as part of the Academic staff. But as things are right now, I believe there is plenty of work to do yet.
Well, now it's your turn...

Write about some changes that could be made to your study programme (career).
Among others, think about:
- The curriculum (the subjects you have to study)
- Workload and length of studies
- Faculty facilities (buildings and infrastructure)
- Use of technology
- Teaching methods.
